Wegner chosen chairman of club board

Walnut Creek Country Club has elected Vern Wegner as chairman of its Board of Governors for 2008. Wegner and his wife, Judy, have been members of Walnut Creek since 1992. They moved to Mansfield after Wegner’s retirement from the United States Air Force. He retired as a colonel with 27 years of service. He now serves as the coordinator for the Retired Couples Golf Group and the past president of the Retired Men’s Golf Association.

Also appointed to the Board of Governors are Joe Torres, Larry Klos, Melissa Wimberly, David Leasor, Carolyn Pazara, Mike Leasor, Cindi Walker, Jeff Bojeski and Terri Chatham.

Walnut Creek, a private country club, is located at 1151 Country Club Drive. In addition to two 18-hole golf courses, amenities include more than 10,000 square feet of dining/event space, an adult-only bar and grill, a private dining room, a driving range, a chipping area, 14 lighted tennis courts and a junior Olympic swimming pool. Walnut Creek is a member of the ClubCorp family of clubs.
