Mansfield schools suit up for All-District baseball honors

Summit had two players and a coach receive top honors, and the three other schools had big numbers in the All-District teams.
Jaguar Quinn Sharp was voted Defensive MVP of District 4-5A. The senior center fielder was all over the grass this season, helping lead Summit to its first playoff berth.
Summit’s Cody Dickson was honored as Co-Sophomore of the Year, along with Burleson’s Justin Watson. Dickson was a force on the mound for Summit, going 9-2 for the year and throwing for a 2.14 ERA.
Art Senato, Summit’s coach, was voted as the Co-Coach of the Year along with Paschal’s Stephen Smith. Summit had its best season, winning a share of the district title with Paschal.
Pitchers Will Lane from Mansfield and Ryan Behmanesh of Summit were voted to first-team All-District. Lane was 5-5 for the year and had a 1.80 ERA. Behmanesh had a 2.17 ERA with a 6-2 record for the year.
Second-team pitchers include Noah Syndergaard from Legacy, Mansfield’s Matt Guinn and Gregg Shaw from Summit.
Richard Sanguinetti of Summit was voted to first-team All-District at second base. The junior batted .422 for the year.
Timberview’s Patrick Durland got the call to the first-team at shortstop. The senior was stellar in the hole and was awarded the honor along with Jonah Johnson of Paschal.
Mansfield’s Wade Coker was rewarded for his efforts at third base. The first-team All-District star swung a mighty bat, hitting for .438 for the season.
Chad Downey of Timberview was very impressive in the outfield for the Wolves, earning him a first-team selection in the outfield.
Mansfield’s Michael Smith was great in a lot of areas, earning him first-team honors as a utility player. Smith worked as the closer for the Tigers and hit for 24 RBIs.
The first-team designated hitter honors went to Toby Semler of Summit. Semlar drove in 35 runs and 16 extra-base hits for the season.
Michael Miller of Mansfield was selected to the second-team at first base as a sophomore.
In the outfield, Summit’s Joey Sitzman, Timberview’s Rustin Thomas and Mansfield’s Kal Saldana were selected to the second-squad All-District.
