District plans series of summer camps for athletes

Summer sports camps are taking applicants for those interested in learning from the best that the Mansfield school district has to offer.

All interested parties are encouraged to visit the athletic department through www.mansfieldisd.org and click on their favorite high school for registration times and additional information. With some camps starting soon, those interested in joining camps should check out the information and make their decision shortly.

Basketball

Cost for all the basketball camps in the district is $65.

At the camps, players will learn fundamentals as well as have some fun with fellow players.

The Mansfield girls and the Summit and Timberview boys will be out on the court June 16-19. The Legacy boys and Timberview girls host their camps June 23-26.

Football

Mansfield holds its camp June 16-19 and Timberview is out on the field June 23-26.

The cost for all of the camps is $65, and campers will receive T-shirts. They are also encouraged to bring water and cleats for the field.

While at camp, players will get the opportunity to work closely with the high school coaches and improve on their offensive and defensive skills.

The camp will build character and give the kids an idea of what high school football is like in Texas.

Baseball

Legacy hosts its camp June 16-19, Mansfield on June 23-26 and Timberview on July 7-10.

The cost for all the camps is $65, and with all the camps being at different times, players can check out the school of their choice and gain a good experience.

Attendees are asked to bring their own gloves, hats, cleats and bats if needed.

The first priority is for the kids to have fun, but learning other skills needed for the high school is something that is invaluable.

Volleyball

Legacy is the next school hosting its camp, using June 16-19 as its time. Mansfield and Summit host their camps June 23-26.

While at camp, players from second to eighth grade will get the chance to work with the high school coaches and former players to help improve their game.

Cost for all of the camps is $65.

Tennis

The four Mansfield schools will be hosting the Future Champions Tennis Camp on June 23-26 at Legacy High School. The fee is $65, and kids ranging from elementary to ninth grade are encouraged to join.

Coaches from all four high schools will be in attendance, and will be helping kids of all ability levels.

Campers are evaluated by the directors and are placed into groups of similar ability.
