On Thursday, the Mansfield athletic department will host its second Fanfest celebration, honoring and showing off the high school teams at Mansfield ISD Stadium before the start of the fall season.
Fanfest gives the public a chance to see its favorite football team on the field as well as school drum lines and cheerleaders. Admission is free. The ceremonies kick off at 6 p.m. and will last until 8 p.m.
"It’s a great chance for the community to come together and a great way to kick off the new season," said assistant athletic director Kirk Thor. "We like it because it creates more school spirit and any time we have the chance to support the community, we do it."
While attending the event, boosters will be on hand to sell shirts and fans will have the chance to pick out their season ticket seats. Free hot dogs will be available and concession stands will be open for the event.
The drum lines from Mansfield and Summit will be on hand, as well as the drill team from Legacy and the cheerleaders from Timberview. The groups will perform exhibitions for the crowd.
"The cheerleaders and some band members will be out there, so it should be a great time for everyone that comes out," Thor said.
In addition to boosters selling shirts and memorabilia, a limited number of shirts will be given out for free at the pep rally.
