WHITE SETTLEMENT — Quarterback Scotty Young threw for 262 yards and four touchdowns as Denton Ryan knocked Timberview out of the playoffs with a 49-14 win Nov. 21 at Brewer Stadium.
Young also rushed for another score in Ryan’s victory in the Class 4A Division I Region I area-round game.
The Raiders (9-3) will meet Wolfforth Frenship in the next round.
Timberview’s defense was unable to keep up with the speedy Ryan receivers in the second half as the Raiders widened a 21-7 halftime lead.
The Wolves (6-6) looked great on their opening possession, taking the ball 66 yards for a touchdown while using more than seven minutes off the clock.
Quarterback Donte Parker and running back Eric Stephens combined for 61 yards rushing on the drive, which was capped with Stephens’ 7-yard scoring run.
Stephens finished the night with 136 yards rushing and 58 yards receiving.
Ryan answered on its first possession, driving 72 yards to tie the score at 7-7.
Young completed a 6-yard fade pass to the back of the end zone to D.J. Beshears.
Timberview used most of the second quarter to go on a lengthy drive to the Ryan 34.
The Wolves punted and pushed Ryan back to its own 4. That didn’t matter, as the Raiders used three minutes to march 96 yards and take the lead on a Young scramble into the end zone.
On Timberview’s first offensive play after the touchdown, Antonio Anderson intercepted a pass and returned the ball 68 yards, giving Ryan a 21-7 halftime lead.
In the second half, Young completed TD passes to Jay Catlin, Anderson and Bud Sasser. Catlin also had a 5-yard touchdown run.
Timberview’s only bright spot in the second half came when Parker completed a 14-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Rountree after avoiding three tacklers.
