Teams get final tune-ups before MISD tourney

News-Mirror Writer

All four boys teams will be in action today at the fourth annual MISD Spring Creek Holiday Classic. All games will be played at Legacy High School, with the first game today tipping off 2:30 p.m.

Mansfield 58, Granbury 51: Robert Ramsey had 19 points and two other Tigers were in double digits Tuesday night as Mansfield (4-1) pulled away from Granbury on the road.

Trailing 12-10 after one quarter of play, Mansfield outscored the opposition the remaining three quarters to pick up the win.

Colby Cob had 11 points and Elliot Dean had 10 points in the win.

Richland 68, Summit 63: When opposing defenses focus on Richland guard Nolan Dennis, one of his teammates has to step up to provide offense.

Isaac Greenwood did just that scoring 14 points in the Rebels’ 68-63 victory over Mansfield Summit.

"That was huge," Richland coach Richard Bacon said. "That was one of his best games."

Richland (3-3) struggled in the third quarter as Dennis, who has signed with Memphis, picked up his fourth foul and didn’t re-enter the contest until there was about six minutes remaining in the game.

Summit took advantage and held a six-point lead entering the fourth.

Dennis, who finished with a game-high 24 points, scored five points in the fourth quarter as Summit’s defense contained him. But that opened things up for Greenwood, who scored 12 of his 14 in the fourth quarter.

"It was a high-paced game like we expected," Bacon said. "We were down about nine in the third quarter, but we pulled through in the fourth quarter."

Deoirvay Johnson and Eric Waters led Summit with 13 points apiece.

Timberview 78, Lewisville 73: Cedric Ivory’s 30 points paved the way for the Wolves (3-1) Tuesday night in their final tune-up before the MISD Tournament this weekend.

Timberview’s stellar defense was in full swing in the second half, outscoring Lewisville 21-9 in the third quarter.

Timberview trailed 37-31 at the half, but the third quarter surge was the difference.

J.J. Williams added 14 points for the Wolves, and Jerren Domino put in nine in the close win.
